Local Hero

We want to celebrate small businesses or organisations in our local area that are really championing sustainability.

Our Local Hero for Edinburgh is the Zero Waste Hub on Bread Street, just a couple of minutes from The Knight Residence. This little gem of a place is a community-led zero waste cooperative, working to make a sustainable lifestyle accessible to everyone. They achieve this through their Swapshop, Food Sharing Hub, vegan Cafe, events, and even a bicycle repair shop.

In the evenings, the shop and café transforms into an event space with multiple events every week ranging from yoga classes to sewing workshops.

Be sure to pop in for a coffee and cake, to donate any food that you may have left over from your stay or pick up a fashion bargain off the clothes rails.
