Policy Aims
Our business aim is to meet all registration requirements and achieve compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements.
We endeavour to:

Paper and Waste
- We will minimize the use of paper in the office, paper light.
- We will reduce packaging as much as possible.
- We will seek to buy recycled and recyclable paper products.
- We will reuse and recycle all paper where possible.
- We will identify hazardous waste and items that require specialist disposal and have them removed by approved contractors and will train our staff on Flow in this area.
- We will monitor our waste through logging and analyse the recyclable content being disposed.
Energy and Water
- We will seek to reduce the amount of energy used as much as possible and will include installing LED’s throughout, using lighting controls and sensors and light zoning.
- We will use the most green form of energy where possible.
- Lights and electrical equipment will be switched off when not in use.
- Heating will be adjusted with energy consumption in mind.
- The energy consumption and efficiency of new products will be considered when purchasing.
- We will monitor the use of energy wherever it is metered and record this in Sage Intacct.
- We will identify areas for improvement and implement agreed actions.
- All appliances must be at least B rated but preferably B.
- All new boilers should be electric wherever possible and preferably the radiators themselves will be electric.
- All new radiators will have thermostatic controls or fitted with one whenever the system is drained and there is an opportunity to change the existing controls.
- All pipework to be well insulated.
- All areas to be thermostatically controlled.
- Secondary or double glazing to be installed when renewing – subject to planning and conservation.
- Outside walls to have insulation board on them when renovating.
- Water usage, where metered, will be monitored.
- All leaks from taps and pipes are being repaired as soon as discovered and the incidence of such leaks reduced through good maintenance.
- All new toilets to be dual flush.
- To install low flow taps wherever suitable on renewals and refurbishments.
- Customers are to be informed on how they can save water and energy.
Suppliers
- We will evaluate whether our needs can be met in other less environmentally damaging ways.
- We will ask suppliers to provide their environmental policies and look to use those who will reduce Mansley’s scope 2, and scope 3 impact.
- We will evaluate the environmental benefits of renting or sharing equipment as an option before purchasing outright.
- We will evaluate the environmental impact of any new products we intend to purchase.
- We will seek to buy more environmentally friendly and efficient products.
- We will reuse and recycle everything we are able to do.
- We will use local labour and materials where available to reduce CO2 and help the community and avoid online retailers.
Transportation
- We will reduce the need to travel, restricting travel to necessary journeys only.
- We will use the greenest form of transport where possible.
- We will promote the use of travel alternatives such as e-mail or videoconferencing.
- We will use, where appropriate, “green” vehicles and maintain them rigorously.
- We can offer our guests Eco-Cars for airport transfers, reducing the carbon emissions of this service by 25% on regular transport services.
Maintenance and Cleaning
- Cleaning materials will be as environmentally friendly as possible.
- Materials used in office refurbishment will be as environmentally friendly as possible.
- We will only use licenced and appropriate organisations to dispose of waste.
Communication
- We will communicate with and involve staff in the implementation and ongoing development of this policy, for greater commitment and improved performance.
- We will provide staff with relevant environmental training.
- We will publicise on our website.
- We will communicate with our guests to make them aware of how they can enjoy our services in a Green Way.
- We will participate in webinars and other forms of media to share our ideas on sustainability.
- We will use our newsletter to promote our sustainability goals and policies.
Incentives for staff and guests
- We will encourage home working where possible to reduce commuting although it is also recognized that working in the office during the winter may mean the reduction in heating at home may offset the commuting imprint.
