Cheltenham – Historical Town

The vibrant town of Cheltenham, located on the borders of the Cotswolds, Gloucestershire, is an attractive weekend break favourite amongst tourists. Cheltenham is submerged by it’s intriguing history where in the early 1200’s it was originally a market town. During the 18th century, it was discovered in a field south of the town that the waters were found to have medicinal purposes. This historical town is infused with a blend of traditional and contemporary culture. The town hosts a variety of festivals all year round taking place in various venues within the town. This includes the Jazz, Science, Music and Literature Festivals which are all sponsored by reputable UK organisations. For sports enthusiasts, the Cheltenham Racecourse is the highlight of the jump season in UK horse racing and holds an exciting atmosphere for the Cheltenham Festival. Taking place annually every March, the 4 day event sees extensively trained British and Irish horses and jockeys battle it out for a prize worth millions which must not be missed!

The Montpeillier district of Cheltenham is a popular location in the town centre. Featuring an array of stylish boutique shops, contemporary bars, café’s and fine restaurants, it is one of the richest areas in town.
